~ mezzo soprano in F ~

A slightly rare horn in Brandsma's possesion is a so called Mezzo Soprano in F. Made by Conn in the late '20. Serial # M213984.

After a thorough restoration, it is now back in an excellent shape, ready to be played at any minute.

Family wise it seems to be related to the alto in F, as designed by Adolphe Sax. The bore seems to be more narrow though, giving it a very sweet sound.

Not much work for it.....

Alas hardly any music is composed for the F mezzo soprano. So any composer who would like to have a kind of first, or unique composition.....

On May 13 and 14. 2017 Brandsma played this beautifull instrument during 2 concerts in Villa von Bergen, Langen. (D) This was in a setting of intimate chamber jazz with the great stride-pianist Jan-Hendrik Ehlers.

Early August 2015, Bert used the F-Mezzo sopano during a recording session, organised by Lutz Eikelmann. The song 'Dinah' was recorded in the famous studio's owned by Thomas Guthoff, where music history was re-written!

Silver plated

Lovely sweet sound!

F-mezzo soprano, C-Melody and C-soprano, in 1 number.
